Dear Dublin: A farewell letter to the city
Dear Dublin,
My year with you has come to an end. I’ve had to pack my boxes and say my goodbyes and leave on a jet plane to head back to Malta for a little while to take a breather and catch up with good old friends before I turn the page and start a brand new chapter in London.
You’ve been brilliant to me. With you, I learnt more about myself than I expected to. I met some incredible people, went to some gorgeous places, ate some delicious food, watched amazing bands live, had some brilliant nights out…
My room in Dublin was my little cave. It was a little sanctuary of movies and books and music and a super comfy bed, in a great house which I shared with two very special ladies, Hannah and Esther. In this little cave of mine, I learnt magic, obsessed over Sherlock, became a Whovian, read up a whole lot about design and user experience and psychology. I had a couple of good crys too, which everybody needs from time to time. But on the whole it was a joyous year, and one I am grateful to have had.
I got a Masters degree this year, which was exciting. Always good to learn new things and hopefully that’ll open up plenty of opportunities for me. This year went by in a flash, simply because I enjoyed the heck out of it. I lived. I said yes. And if I made mistakes, I was able to chalk them down to experience and learn from them.
Dublin, you will always be the colorful city. The city of the friendliest people I have had the pleasure of meeting. The city where music forever plays throughout the streets. The city where there is always always something happening.
I will be back to visit, you mark my words. You’re a part of me now, and I will always think of you fondly.
Hannah
