I started off the year playing Louise in Dennis Kelly’s Osama the Hero. It was a tough script and a really taxing character to play, but as always I got to know a small group of talented, wonderful people and that’s a huge reward in itself. Playing a character so different to my own also meant I learnt a little more about myself.
Ah, Paris! What a fantastic holiday this was. We did so much sightseeing in the city, took so may photos, ate so much food and drank the most expensive coffee we’d ever had! We also went on all the rides in Disneyland - some even twice.
Hannah! She came to Malta to surprise me on my birthday in June. What’s more, she and my man planned a big surprise party for me and invited all my dear friends.
At the end of June, Vee and I set off for four ridiculously fun filled days in London where we watched Glee in concert, had a glass of wine next to Lea Michele and Darren Criss at the Savoy, then watched Beirut, Mumford and Sons and Arcade Fire in concert in Hyde Park.
Of course, I moved to Dublin – a city I am head over heels in love with. I’ve done so much already since I’ve been there, made new friends, learnt so much in the first semester of college. And who can forget those nights out with Hannah where we always end up in Eddie Rockets at 3am? (Mostly my fault, of course)…
This year I went to watch Tori Amos in concert for the third time, and I also finally managed to get my photo taken with her after a failed attempt in 2005 (the guy who took the photo was zoomed all the way in and what should have been a photo of me and Tori was a photo of Tori’s eyebrow).
At the beginning of November my flatmates and I fostered this cutie pie (Ollie) and his brother Freddie. They still live with us and will continue to do so until they’ve found a proper home. If I had my way I would keep them both forever, but I’m not settled yet and an uncertain future means I wouldn’t be able to offer them stability.
I flew back to Malta in December to celebrate Christmas and ring in the new year with my family, with Andrew and with my lovely friends who still live here. It’s been great fun being in Malta on holiday and having mum cook me dinner again!
And what comes next? Well, I fly back to Dublin soon and sit for some exams, then I start my new semester, which means lots more to learn. I’m looking forward to that, and then to working on my final project from May to August. I’m also looking forward to more time in Dublin with my friends, and also to Andrew coming to visit in February.
Happy New Year, everyone!
