My name is Abby, ever since reading an article in the Times of Malta, I have felt a desire to help in some way. Noah’s Ark receives no government funding and struggles to support the dogs it offers shelter and love to.
A friend of mine had recently organised a charity Frock Swap in the UK, so I decided to bring a Frock Swap to Malta: a great way to use our love for clothes to raise money for charity.
So what is a Frock Swap? It’s simply a gathering where everyone brings those items in their wardrobe that no longer fit or the items they just no longer wear. The items must be clean and in mint condition.
A frock swap is not limited to just frocks. Dresses, trousers, shorts, skirts, tops, shoes, bags and accessories can all be swapped. A Frock Swap is a great way to met new people and trade in your unwanted items for a new look. Swapping unwanted items is also a great way to recycle, so you will be doing your bit for the environment as well.
When and where is this Frock Swap I hear you ask? Saturday July 30, 2011, at noon, items will be collected and sorted. Refreshments will be available while this is being done and then the swap will commence. You will be given a ticket confirming the amount of items you have brought and you may take away the same number of items.
Entrance is €5 and profits will be donated directly to Noah’s Ark. The Swap is being held at 3 High Ridge Residence, Triq Il-Pedidalwett, Madliena. For more information contact abbyeasby(at)yahoo(dot)co(dot)uk.
If you are unable to attend the Frock Swap but want to help Noah’s Ark, then you can donate by sending a text €1 : 50617351, €2 : 50618072 or €5 : 50619202, or you could sponsor a dog .They always need volunteers to help walk the dogs or help around the kennels and they will be most grateful for any food, bedding, collars or leads that can be donated.
