I’ve been a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl for as long as I remember. I own too many basics for my own good. Why? They’re safe. You can never go wrong with jeans and I’m sure all curvy girls will understand the problem I face here – once we find something we’re comfortable we tend to latch on to it for security’s sake.
Don’t get me wrong – basics are important; everybody should have tees and v-neck sweaters, and a good pair of jeans is an essential item in any woman’s wardrobe. Still, when all you have is several cotton v-necks in dark, solid colours, it’s hard to feel ‘special’ in your clothes.
I got to thinking: how can I preach self-love if I’m too scared to make mistakes with my clothes; so scared, that I don’t take risks? That’s why I’ve resolved to change my ways. For the past few months, whenever I go shopping I make the conscious decision to steer away from the rack of black turtleneck sweaters I am almost magnetically drawn to. I head instead to the exotic territory of capes, dresses and (OMG) shorts!
I know, right? I’d never thought I’d wear shorts (usually don’t wear anything that falls anywhere above the knee) but would you believe it…
Photographic evidence! And they look pretty damn good too, even if I do say so myself.
So yes. From now on, I am going to be an adventurous dresser. Expect more photos. Andrew can also expect to be my designated fashion photographer from now on (sorry, love!). You can see his shadow in this photo!
Oh, and for the record, here are the details of this outfit:
And how about you? How adventurous are your clothing choices?
