The Sketchbook Project

I’ve been mulling over whether or not to sign up for The Sketchbook Project: 2011 and I think I just might.

Basically, they send you a Moleskine (<3) notebook and you have a couple of months to fill it according to the theme you’re assigned, which can be anything from ‘Facing forward’ to ‘Capture the flag’; from ‘Great hopes and massive failures to ‘I’m sorry I forgot you’.

Once received by the end of January 2011, all the notebooks will go ‘on tour’. They get exhibited in galleries and museums across the US before they enter the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Art Library.

This year, artists get to keep track of their notebooks as they travel the country and they get to see how many people have looked at their work.

Exciting, no?

never heard of this, does sound like an exciting idea. i’m all for collaborative stuff like this – i got into mail art while i was in London, you should look into that too. excellent way to share work and ideas (in a very tactile way) with people all over the world.

only just discovered your blog too! i’ll keep an eye out for updates.

If you and Teo also join, we could have Sketchbook (wine-based) inspiration parties :D

Thanks re: blog. Glad to have a new reader :)
